How We Met Each Other
It was Freshman year of college and those “Farmington Boys” were causing chaos down the hall. Casey went to give them the what-for so she could get back to studying. She opened the door to find a bunch of clowns playing Rock Band and making newspaper hats. Lots of people knew the Farmington Boys, and no one knew them for being quiet. But as Casey looked around the room of familiar faces, there was one Farmington Boy that she did not know. That was the night Mike and Casey met.
At first, she was just another girl, and he was just another boy with whom they had several mutual friends. A year had passed before it was clear those friends were in their lives for good and perhaps they should get to know one another. In November of 2009 Mike and Casey went to DeGidio’s in Downtown St. Paul. He didn’t know where to take a vegetarian, but figured Italian would be a safe bet - and he was right! Then they ventured to The Science Museum. Casey remembers Mike saying that he wanted to find an activity where “they could learn something.” That was the day Casey and Mike went on their first date.
They made things official in May 2010 when Mike set down the Xbox controller and Casey picked up the iPhone. 4 anniversaries, 2 graduations, 2 hilarious cats, and many other commitments later, Mike brought Casey to their favorite spot - the North Shore of Lake Superior. The two were walking on the beach as the sun made its first appearance over the horizon. That was the morning Mike proposed to Casey.
